Groove-billed Ani still present and is presumably the same bird reported in January. It can be found at Boyd Hill Nature Park in Pinellas County. The following directions were taken from Birdbrains, a Florida listeserv:

Boyd Hill NP is located at 1100 Country Club Dr S in southern St.
Petersburg. For anyone not at all familiar with the area a sure-bet way of
finding the park is to get off the interstate (I-275) at 54th Ave SOUTH
(not North ) in St. Petersburg and go EAST. -- In familiar terms - if you
were to go west you'd be heading towards the 50-cent toll on the Pinellas
Bayway towards Fort De Soto Park --. After getting off the interstate go
east 2.0 mi. to M.L.King St. and turn left (north). Proceed 0.4 mi. to
Country Club Dr. S. and turn left (west). The park entrance is on your
right almost immediately. Admission is $3 (it is a city-owned park and not
a county freebie).
Take the main trail right through the middle of the park, past Wax Myrtle Pond, to the fire hydrant. Turn left, walk 50 yards and you'll come to the lake. Turn left again. Follow this trail a couple of hundred yards to the only intersection you'll see that goes off to the left, and then proceed another 100 yards and you're in the area.

The park opens at 7 AM on Saturday, 10 AM on Sunday, and is closed Mondays.

A plegadis Ibis found in Pensacola on 27th has been identified as a White-faced today. The bird is difficult to get views of due to frequenting a pond close to the highway. A scope is necessary to get conclusive views. The ibis is using a mitigations pond north of I-10 on Davis Highway nr a Denny's restaurant.
A Western Kingbird was seen in San Antonio in West Pasco county. The Lark Sparrow continues in NE St. Petersburg as well as the Groove-billed Ani at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. The Long-billed Curlew continues at Fort De Soto County Park nr St. Petersburg.

a 1w Iceland Gull was found at Fernandina Beach Marina yesterday by Brett's Waterway Cafe. The Groove-billed Ani was still present at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve also.

An adult White-faced Ibis in alternate plumage was discovered today at Cockroach Bay, south of Tampa in Hillsborough County, feeding with 45 Glossy Ibis. The finder, Cameron Cox, kindly posted directions:

Directions:
Driving west on Cockroach Bay you past the mitigation ponds on the left (south side of the road). Just past the pond is a small wooded area of mostly
Brazilian Pepper also on the left. As soon as the wooded area ends look left
and there is an open lawn that is currently partly flooded just east of the
Hawaiian Isles Trailer Park. The ibis were foraging on this lawn and the
White-faced was easily visible with binoculars. Dark ibis also congregate on
the mitigation ponds and further down Cockroach Bay Rd at the pond on the right which is part of Cockroach Bay Preserve, and this bird could be found at either of those locations as well.

The long staying Green-tailed Towhee is still present at Fort Pickens nr Pensacola. A Nashville Warbler was spotted there today as well. The Groove-billed Ani continues at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve and is very photogenic.
A singing Bell's Vireo was spotted at Bill Baggs State Park in Miami Dade.

Ross's Goose and Greater White-fronted Goose on Lake Killarney in Tallahassee today. Groove-billed Ani still present. Click on link for cool viedo footage. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32958878@N07/5586828730/in/photostream/

2 Sprague's Pipits and American Golden Plover were seen in Apalachicola today.

Other scarce but regular visitors to Florida included Scissor-tailed Flycatcher in the Everglades and an American Golden Plover at Cutler Wetland in the Miami area. A Red-breasted Nuthatch on Green Key Rd in West Pasco County.

The Groove-billed Ani and Lark Sparrow are still prsent in the St. Pete area. see previous posts for further details.

A 1w Glaucous Gull was present at Ponce De Leon inlet in Volusia County today. A Bell's Vireo was found in Key West. There were 2 Pine Siskins at Fort De Soto County Park today. Pine Siskin is an annual winter visitor, in varying numbers, to the Panhandle and North Florida. It is quite a rarity for the peninsula and they aren't often found as far south as the St. Pete area!

A terrific Fork-tailed Flycatcher was found at Evergreen Cemetry in Fort Lauderdale on Friday 15th. Directions: From U.S 1 (south of Fort
Lauderdale), turn east on SE 15th St., then left onto SE 10th Ave. Entrance
to Cemetery on right. (DeLORME p.g 115) All afternoon the bird has been
mostly on wires, NW of the cemetery as the road curves back toward U.S 1.
Specifically the flycatcher was observed twice at the corner of 12th St. and
9th Ave on the wire's.

The bird has not been seen today despite extensive searching.

A discussion has started on this kingbirds identity. Follow the link below. Couch's Kingbird cannot be ruled out and sometimes the only way to separate the two is on call. Tropical is far more likely and has been recorded 8-9 times at Fort De Soto since 1998 (per Ron Smith). There are no accepted records of Couch's Kingbird in Florida apparently.

The Long-eared Owl re-appeared at the Dry Tortugas National Park yesterday.

6 Bronzed Cowbirds were found in Hillsborough County in fields just east of Progress Village. To get to the site take the route 301 exit off I 75 in Brandon then go south on 301 a short distance to the Bloomindale Avenue intersection. Turn right (west) at the light and this road becomes Progress Blvd. Go about half a mile to the intersection with Falkenburg Road and turn right (north). Go up Falkenburg about 200 yards and park on the left by a large blue water valve surrounded by pale yellow posts. The birds were across the road in the pasture and also feeding around this blue valve. I also saw them later around one of the ponds on the north side of the field.

The long staying Groove-billed Ani was still present at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve today as well.
