Los Angeles finch (1 Viewer)

Odd looking thing, but my guess is American Goldfinch; not sure if it is really an abnormal plumage or just in the middle of molt.
 
I was trying to turn it into a Pin-tailed Whydah in molt, but that's not right. I think rkj may be on he right track, but possibly Lesser Goldfinch, not American.
