The Tuesday bird walks will resume on September 08, 2015

August 23 2015
This week the Sunday bird-walk went to Buttertubs Marsh. There were at least five warbling vireo spotted, all with varying shades of yellow. One of them was a bright yellow and was spotted feeding from a tent caterpillar nest.
Next Sunday’s bird walk (August 30 2015) will be going to the Englishman River Estuary (Plummer rd. side).
Meet at the store at 9:00am, or meet at the trailhead on Plummer rd. (by the sub-division) at approximately 9:20am.

August 16 2015
Bairds Sandpiper and some Killdeer were spotted at Columbia Beach

August 18
The following birds were spotted at Deep Bay:
Pacific Loon
Common Loon
Horned Grebe
Red-necked Grebe
Surf Scoter
Bonaparte’s Gulls
Red- necked phalarope

August 19 2015
50 nighthawks were seen at Rathtrevor Beach

A Bairds Sandpiper was spotted at Englishman River Estuary (Plummer. rd side)

August 20
Northern Saw Whet Owl was heard calling on Christy rd. in Ladysmith

August 21
The following birds were seen at the Englishman River Estuary (Plummer rd. side):
Cedar Waxwings
Belted Kingfisher
Yellow Warbler
Least Sandpiper
Western Sandpiper
Semipalmated Sandpiper
Common Merganser
Hooded Merganser

August 22 2015
Three black oyster catchers were spotted at Pipers Lagoon

August 23 2015

Everyone is welcome to join us for a 2-3 hour bird walk on the Sunday and
Tuesday mornings. We leave from the Store at 9 a.m. on Sunday Mornings and go to a different location in and around Nanaimo and from the Parksville Beach Community Park at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and go to different areas in and around the Oceanside area.
The Tuesday bird walks will resume on September 08, 2015
