Which bird species is this? (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

On October 12th, I spotted this bird in Zion National Park, right at Checkerboard Mesa. My closest guess it is a kind of Jay, maybe a Pinyon Jay, because of the blueish color and long tail, but I'm not sure at all?
Anyone that can identify this bird?

Thank you!

It's a Woodhouse's Scrub-Jay. Western Scrub-Jay was split into California and Woodhouse's Scrub-Jays in 2106.

Thank you!

I saw lots of birds, but I couldn't always take close-up pictures of them.

I'm working on my journal, and simultaneously I'm having a look at pictures taken day by day, so if I find other unknown species, I know where to go to ;-)

Enjoy your weekend!

1-2 are Steller's Jay (note the crest on the blackish head, compared with your earlier Woodhouse's Scrub Jay)

3 is a Spotted Towhee

Hi all,

I have two more pictures of birds:

The first one might be the same as the one I posted earlier. I took the picture in Yosemite near Lower Yosemite Falls on October 17th. Actually, I will show 2 pictures of the bird:

The next picture is taken on October 18th on Sentinel Dome Trail near Glacier Point, Yosemite.

Thank you very much in advance and happy Easter Monday!

The first two pictures are of Steller's Jay. The other picture is a Spotted Towhee.
