Safety Plates. Gitzo tripods. (1 Viewer)

Anybody have any experience of safety plates for Gitzo Tripods? Currently using a large systematic with a Wimberley Mark 2.

I use a Gitzo 3530LS (or 3320BS) + a Wimberley 2 for my big lens (Canon 800 F5.6) and don't see the need for a "Safety Plate". The (alleged) problem of Gitzo Syetematic plates falling out comes from people who either do not check them or who read too much on forums!
These top plates rely on a friction fit which is immensely strong - but it can slacken after time or major temperature variations. There is, however, a very simple (and FREE) solution - when you pack away your tripod/head simply slacken the locking bolt and remove the head and top plate together. Then when you re-mount the head/top plate combination you are certain that it is tightened and locked properly for the prevailing conditions.
As an aside it is quicker too!
