Hopefully may get some more Ringed Plover - 53 through Belvide and 105 at Blithfield this morning

Nothing else during the day of great note apart from another Ruff at the Flashes. Lots of hirundines down in the rain, all three species well-represented. At least 35 Chiffchaffs across the reserve and at least 15 Blackcaps including a 'flock' of seven at the Moors Pool along the west side.

Little Stint from today, Tim. Light improved as the afternoon progressed.

1. with lapwing
2. solo
3. with ruff

August closed with the month's list a decent 105 species and the year list progessing to 135 species. Hopefully September can at least match, if not exceed this total, with possible additions for the year including:

Mandarin Duck, Grey Plover, Curlew Sandpiper, Wood Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank, Turnstone, Little Owl, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Tree Pipit, Ring Ouzel, Rock Pipit, Crossbill, Yellowhammer

Please note management work is being undertaken at the Flashes with the likelihood of disturbance high; would suggest anyone wishing to see the stint should get there before 9am

You beat me to it, Phil. Andy Harris asked me to remind visitors of disruption tomorrow as someone from Natural England will be inspecting the site and also the grazier needs to be shown where to put the cowpats.

Andy says there could be further work on Thursday but this is in doubt because of the break-in at Lower Smite that has rendered their vehicles unusable.

Peter
