Adobe Photoshop or Elements (1 Viewer)

I currently use Adobe Photoshop Elements V.1, and am gradually getting to grips with it. My recent move into digiscoping means I will be doing different types of image manipulation, and I wonder whether a software upgrade is a good Idea.
Elements V.2 would be the cheap option, but I will can get Photoshop V.6 on E-bay for a similar price, and upgrade it later.
Is it wise for me to move into the big world of full Photoshop for digiscope images?

I currently use Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 in conjunction with a Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400 DPI scanner and I am thrilled with the results. The functionality of Elements 2 is perfect for my use in scanning 35mm transparencies and negatives. I also started off with version 1.0. Note I also own Photoshop 6.0 but prefer Elements for my photographic work.

Malcolm,I think most people find Elements 2.0 is perfectly adequate for all the manipulation required. It is an excellent prog.
