September cumulative totals

Mainland 8 13 12
Foula 4 3 1
Unst 1 6 5
Skerries 1 2 1
Whalsay 1 0 1
Fair Isle 0 5 5
Yell 0 2 2
Fetlar 0 0 1
Bressay 0 0 0
Papa Stour 0 0 0

I have to say this rather surprised me. Whilst it doesn't include Two-barred Crossbills, and several species have been demoted in recent years (Cit Wag, OBP, Arctic and Blyth's Reed Wblrs for instance) I hadn't appreciated the dearth of national rarities on Fair Isle. That said it was like that in 2004 at this time and ended up with two firsts for the Western Palearctic.

There was also a Black-throated Diver on Unst which was apparently new (Shetland rarity).

Bressay

Lanceolated Warbler - BBRC

Fair Isle

Black-winged Stilt - Scottish rarity

Of course the stilt is also a first for Shetland.

I am assuming the Pallas's Warbler on Unst is the bird from yesterday having moved, and that the Arctic type Redpoll on Bressay yesterday hasn't been confirmed further.

The Bressay redpoll on the 8th seems to have been firmed up to Coues's Arctic (BBRC).
