The West Yar might still be worth a visit too, if you're passing.

Also, the old railway line along the River Medina from Cowes to Newport (possibly best done in that direction?) used to be excellent for various warblers, Green Woody, Kingfisher and that sort of thing. Even a chance of Barn Owl if you get out early enough. Won't be many waders, of course, but you could get the odd Redshank, Greenshank and Common Sand.
