Panasonic DMC FZ8 (1 Viewer)

Hi - last week I tested the FZ8 for digiscoping with Nikon 82ED scope with 30x DS eyepiece. The camera is good - but has a lots of vignetting. Also, the zoom range being 12X - it becomes difficult to frame properly for photography. The camera is good but not very useful for digiscoping.

Hi Kittykat: Attached are two shots - the 12x has less vignetting than the 4x - shot at approximately 1/2 mile distance. Camera is not good for digiscoping - it is also very difficult to focus. However, the interesting thing is to note that you can get about 18-inch total height (6 brick height) from a 1/2-mile distance. That's the beauty of digiscoping - and this virtually can never be done with traditional camera w/ telephoto lens. Wish there was P&S cameras specifically designed for digiscoping - may be available someday.
