Leupold 8x32 Wind River Katmai (1 Viewer)

Does anyone have experience with the Leupold Katmai? Outside Online Magazine has a review(2004) that compares their quality with $900 Steiners and Leicas and ConsumerSearch.com recommends them very highly as excellent general use binoculars.

Could such small binos (32mm objective size and 4.1 inches in overall length) really offer "the performance of full size binoculars" and are these binoculars as good as Outside Online seems to think?

Thanks

I think Valley Nature Center in Weslaco carries both the Katmais and Eagle Optics Ranger Platinums, IMHO, the Eagle Optics are better in comparable powers and are about the same price.
