Help (1 Viewer)

Hello, I am wondering about trying digiscoping. At present I use a Nikon 200 500 telephoto which is really excellent but I would like more reach. I have tried the Nikon 2x teleconverter with little success as focus is always off. I know it's either the Teleconverter or me and not the camera lens combination.
I am considering trying the 1.4 teleconverter but with the price I am wondering if I should consider mounting a telescope and try digiscoping instead.
What spec of telescope would I need to achieve the equivalent of say 1000mm (my 500mm + teleconverter x2) at about say £500 - £600 and would that combo be worth it or should I stick with the teleconverter route?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
