Can you give me an ID please for this group of gulls. I can't really tell the difference between Yellow Legged Gulls and other similar types, so most go down as YLGs. But I thought these may be something else as they seemed paler than the ones in the South of France … Probably just YLG, of which there were many, but thought I'd check anyway. Photo on a spit by the Black Sea. Thanks.

The shape and leg colour make me think these are most likely Caspian Gulls.

I'm certainly no expert on gulls but agree they look like Caspian Gulls

Thanks for that - I hadn't been aware of the Caspian, have now read up a bit and see it's either a separate subspecies or species with paler legs - so that fits perfectly.

They are Caspian Gulls indeed. There is a colony in the Danube Delta. See: http://www.lou.bertalan.de/birds/index.php section cachinanns adult.
