Hello all,

My name is Martin, I have a great interest in the natural world and have recently become more interested in being able to identify various types of birds.

I have an 18 month old daughter who, I am happy to say, enjoys going out and spotting animals nearly as much as I enjoy telling her about them. Would be very interested in any family friendly events that anyone can recommend. Or possibly even the odd course/event that I can participate in on my own if I get the time.

I was a keen diver, mainly in the UK, I say was as I haven't managed to get much in since becoming a father. I'm originally from Cornwall, now living West Sussex.

Hi Martin and a warm welcome to you on behalf of the Staff and Moderators.

Have a look at the Pulborough Brooks article in Opus. You'll find a link there to the RSPB sight, they're bound to have some events suitable for you and your family. Another place that's very family friendly in that area is the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust centre at Arundel.

Thanks for the replies. All appears to be very interesting so far!

I'll post a picture for some help in ID'ing it once I work out how.
