7 goosanders on the shingle spit, 4 m and 3 fm, 2 gadwall on the flash, plus 4 shell duck. Bunting hide, 8 bull finches, 5 m plus 3 fm, 1 willow tit, 7 moorhens, 6 robins plus dunnock.

Coach Road St Helens Lancs 12 Feb 09

12 lapwings near Coopers Moss Farm. 3 kestrals, one on the pylon 2 male kestrals on the telegraph wire. 1 moorhen in Cut Lane. Fieldfares mixed with a large flock of starlings. Pinkfoots flying over in a westerly direction, 1 grey wagtail in field opposite Crabtree Plantation. Buzzard flying over the hawthorn hegerow in Newcut Lane viewed from Coach Road. A couple of cock pheasants and could hear plenty of shooters about. A single jay near the paddocks also 10 greenfinches plus 15 chaffinches. 5 pied wagtails amongst the cattle, 2 mistlethrushes.

Coach Road 14th Feb Late afternoon.
Hundreds of lapwings over Simonswood Moss a thousand plus pinkfoots coming into roost on the moss itself. Tawney Owl heard calling from Old House Farm direction. At the southern end of the Coach Road two more owls heard calling from Croppers Wood.
