Not with kestrel, especially as they are getting so scarce. The sprawk incident we had a week or two ago is less rare, though not common. The worst thing is cats, they can go along a net killing everything in reach for fun. We stopped ringing where people moved in with cats and weren't prepared to keep them in the days we ringed - we just couldn't take the risk.

Mike.

One linnet retrap was ringed in December 2013. Two females had the beginnings of brood patches and the last one had a fairly well filled egg so that is the end for this season.

Also seen/heard
Greylag geese
Buzzard
Kestrel
Skylark
Meadow pipit
Swallow
Blackbird
Song thrush
Chiffchaff
Willow warbler
Chaffinch
Reed bunting

The kestrel came down almost onto the net after I had taken a catch, hovered there until I was about 15m away before leaving.

While I was out my wife heard whitethroat singing in our garden.

Mainly forgetting corvids, gulls, non-natives, pigeons and tits.

Many thanks to all concerned, Mike.
