Hello,

My name's Jon and I am new to birding, but I am learning a lot and I am off to a famous birdwatching spot in the North West (UK) tomorrow to see what I can see!
I was out yesterday and managed a great-crested Grebe on the local park lake, but it was spending a lot of time diving! There were the usual coots, a heron, and a pair of tufted ducks - a great day to pick up the binos, fill the flask and get out in the open!

I used to do a lot of bottledigging on old dumps so I am a veteran when it comes to hobbies and I know what it takes - I did that 5 years and it was all over by the time I was 22 because of the people and the lack of transport - there's a lot of parallels with birding, or so I think! Looking forward to meeting everyone! :-O

Hi Jon and a warm welcome to you on behalf of the Staff and Moderators.

Enjoy your day tomorrow (Leighton Moss by any chance??) don't forget to let us know what you've seen there.
