Massachusetts, USA - Bird call ID request (1 Viewer)

I spent several hours yesterday looking up bird calls online trying to figure out what bird this is and was unable to find anything that sounds similar, so I'm hoping someone here can help. I've been hearing this bird call for the past couple of weeks. I've only heard it infrequently, but at all times of day. When I hear it, it's usually repeated a few times, but with pauses lasting around 30 seconds between repetitions. I was able to get this recording today around noon in Quincy, MA, USA.

Sounds like a domestic chicken.

Yep, rooster. People buy chicks as pets without knowing the gender.

Quincy zoning regulations prohibit the keeping of poultry in residential districts (and anywhere else without a permit and a coop set back at least a hundred feet, etc), but most people don't consult a lawyer before getting a pet.

edit to add: If you hear a call that's very similar but much shorter, it's probably a male ring-necked pheasant (introduced long ago as a game bird). There's suitable habitat in parts of Quincy, but they seem to be getting scarce in recent years as the coyote population rises.

Yep...Cock-a-doodle-doo! It takes time for a young rooster to learn to crow correctly, so that might be why it sounds a little funny.
