Hi!
Thanks always for any help in IDing! :)

date: nov .23, 2019
location: naebo park, otaru, hokkaido, japan.
weather: snow, sunny, 11 C.

I have attached photos here. In a birding group a week and a half ago,
45 minutes north in Sapporo saw Crossbills. These SEEM like pine grosbeaks,
down from higher elevations to feed in the winter. Any ideas? Im not quite sure...
Thanks again! Jeff :D

Larry and Tote,
Thank you so much!
I can see clearly now,
and learned the distinctions between the Hawfinch and Japanese Grosbeak,
(I had thought possibly a juvenile Japanese Grosbeak, but now I understand).
Thanks so much again!
Jeff :D
