If the Starling is to be believed
A Curlew sits on the poplar's top
An Oystercatcher on the chimney pot
And the Tawny Owl sings in the
Thin-skinned, day-dazzle sky.
 
LOL H2 - I hear a Curlew calling from the tree tops round here at this time every winter for the last 6-7 years.

I guess they must come from a group that have spent some time on the coast. I only hear it for a week or two just at this time of year - middle/end of January to the middle of February.

Now I'm going to listen for some Oycs and Owls!!!;)
