I am delighted to find BirdForum.
Two years ago a number of members discussed their knowledge of late 18th century ornithologist, the Frenchman Vieillot, esp aspects of his life in Rouen and the status of Volumes 3 and 4 of his Histoire Naturelle which were never published. i found these details of immense interest to my work.
I have been researching early Canadian ornithology for more than 20 years.
I studied Vieillot in detail since he visited Nova Scotia in the 1790's on numerous occasions and mentions species he recorded there.
I have much new information on all aspects of Vieillot's life and ornithological importance largely from reading his writings in French.
I am particularly interested in communicating and sharing information with Rick Wright, Taphrospilus and others who share a strong interest in Vieillot.
