Mild winters are helping the return of the Dartford warbler to
Suffolk's coastal heaths, including Minsmere nature reserve.
Unusually for a warbler, the dartford warbler is a resident species
known to be vulnerable to a run of cold winters. An estimated
61 pairs in 2002 and a further increase this year is likely.
Also Dartford warblers can be seen at the National Trust's
Dunwich heath,where they first re-colonised in 1995.
