So the first two digits are 79. Does that make them manufactured in 2009? And will they have the newest glass coatings?

Yes, that would be the latest coatings, and they were made in 2009.

A nice choice of a very fine binocular.

You enjoying the view thru the 8x30? I've carried mostly 8x42's but the 8x32's are what I have been missing.

Yes, significant improvement. Glass is very clear, FOV is great. I can see why fols like FOV over magnification. It is a nice addition and will be my primary bin now. This Dan get addictive, I can understand why folks like the alpha's as thy were ever sharper than my CL. Budget constraints but happy nonethelessB :)
