How do you tell what the date of manufacture is for a Swarovski bino?

Add 30 to the first digits of your serial #. Bryce...

So the first two digits are 79. Does that make them manufactured in 2009? And will they have the newest glass coatings?

Yes, that would be the latest coatings, and they were made in 2009.

A nice choice of a very fine binocular.

Serial number is only on the box, correct? I don't see any numbers on my CL Companion 8x30

The ser. # is under the inner hinge, just open it all the way.

Enjoy your CL, they are a very nice binocular.

Check out the next two digits. Those indicate the week of manufacture (01-52).

Yes, significant improvement. Glass is very clear, FOV is great. I can see why fols like FOV over magnification. It is a nice addition and will be my primary bin now. This Dan get addictive, I can understand why folks like the alpha's as thy were ever sharper than my CL. Budget constraints but happy nonethelessB
