Hi looking to purchase new pair of binoculars, have been reading reports on Vanguard I have a budget of around £300, so probably not the ED11 I am not sure to go with the 10x42 or there are some 8.5s has anyone got these and can supply there findings, looking to use for general birdwatching and other nature areas, going to Scotland next yr to travel through the isles. Thanks Roy

Hi
If you have a look at:
http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=286260&page=2
I did a comparison between the EDII 8x42 and the original 8.5x45, which is a very fine binocular indeed, and one which you should be able to get for a good price now the EDII is available.
The comparison is at post #45. If you have any questions about it after reading this, I'd be happy to try and answer them.
Paddy
