Taken from a distance, I thought this was a crow. Then with picture and clearer view of beak I can see it is not. It is carrying a mouse. The shots were a few minutes apart but I believe they are of the same bird. Help much appreciated. Thanks.

p.s. My guess is a raven, though the beak does not look quite right.

Cental valley, near Sacramento. Beak threw me because it is much larger and stouter than the beaks of crows I frequently see in the area.
