A pretty red lady this time. The third cuckoo I saw this day in Hegurajima.

The amount of red may say something about the species, but i'm confused...

hope someone can help out....again

cheers,

I checked the different cuckoos on OBI and it seems that only Eurasian Cuckoo has a whitish vent and similar barring on the undertail.
cf http://orientalbirdimages.org/search.php?Bird_ID=445&Bird_Image_ID=16015

Oriental seems to have a barred vent (http://orientalbirdimages.org/search.php?Bird_ID=444&Bird_Image_ID=33236)

Barring on Lesser Cuckoo seems altogether wrong for this bird. Vent is barred as well.

All this of course based on a few photos and the assumption that ID's are correct at OBI.

cheers,
