I'm pretty sure I said I'd put a piccy of the Thai Water Buffulo at Chippenham Fen in the post so here it is.

I am aware of the Polish Wild horses at Wicken Fen, does any one know of any other unusual uses of exotic animals at reserves elswhere?

Nice shot Mike.

Low Barns Reserve in County Durham has some rather unusual four horned goats/sheep in a field attached to the reserve, but I've never managed an attractive photo. They always come out looking mangy to me.

Another one at Stewarts Park in the centre of Middlesbrough has Llamas, Highland Cattle and Deer along with a selection of birds in compounds besides the usual range of ducks on the ponds.

Mike, there are some Highland? Cattle roaming on Headley Heath in Surrey, very impressive animals. attached a photo I took recently

Mike,

Good shot of the H2O Buffalo. Just what is the Chippenham Fen, if I may ask?

Dylan,

That has to be the hairriest cattle I have ever seen. I like the composition. Good range of colors, nice sky.

Hi Brian, Chippenham fen is a National nature reserve just of the A11 north of Newmarket. If I hadn't packed all my os maps I'd give you a ref. Its a permit only site bu it does have a public footpath running through it.

To call it a fen is a bit of a misnomer as it is really an artesian basin and consequently wet all year round in its center. it is bounded by woodlands and meadows as well as farmland so there is a wide variety of animals and insects as well as birds.

A great site and very quiet, I hardly ever see anyone there on weekdays. No hides so you do need subdued clothing for the shyer species (not the buffallo) and be prepared to sit on a log forwhile!
