How to feed a baby mourning dove (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I found a baby mourning dove in its nest but the parents haven't showed up for several days. It was just coming out of the egg and there is little feather on it. I am feeding it with exact hand feeding formula. Is this okay? Also, I bought a little nest for it. Can i leave him at the room temperature inside the house. I live in Ontario,CA. It's moving quite often but its head is not straight up and its body always leans to one side or another. Is it okay? I attached a photo.

If anyone know how to feed this bird please let me know.

Thank you!

Franklin

So, you took the bird out of the nest because you hadn't seen the parents? This is the worst possible thing that you could have done, not to mention illegal. The parents were probably still around, just not going to the nest because of your presence. If there are other eggs in the nest, or if it hasn't been very long since you removed the nestling, the best thing would be to put the bird back. If the nest is empty you should take the bird to a rehabilitation facility.

alright, I called a rehabilitation facility, they told me to leave it in the nest, it's fine. So I put it back, hopefully it will be alright...
