Upton Warren (52 Viewers)

Can anyone help with IDing these feathers we found today, just across the road from the Salwarpe footpath gate on the A38, please? I can't find anything like them in my 'Tracks and Signs of the Birds of Britain & Europe' book, or by Googling, so I'm stumped! Probably Mallard, but thought I would check in case it's something exciting we narrowly missed adding to our list :)

They Look like Mallard to me!

John has asked me not to over-egg this but conditions over the next 48 hours look really promising and today's Grey Plover may be just the vanguard. Winds will remain easterly / ENE but rain will start tonight and generally continue until Wednesday evening. Based on what else is the country it could produce more Grey Plover, Wood Sand, Sanderling, Turnstone, Whimbrel, Greenshank, Temminck's Stint, Ruff, Bar-tailed Godwit and a variety of Tern species (esp Arctic, Black and Little).

Don't wait for the call, text, posting or tweet - be out in the field and be the finder!
