Hello,
I wanted to know what all of you would recommed for binos for 150 to 200 dollar range? I have bought some cheaper pairs but returned them because they are poor quality, mostly bushnell h20 series. I'm looking for 7x or 8x power. Thanks a lot, have a good one. Dan

Two that I've personal experience with, decent instruments with reasonable close focus: Leupold Acadia 8 x 42, ca $180; Brunton Echo 845 porroprism, 8 x 45, ca $150. I'm not sure if the Bruntons are currently available.

Nikon's Action Extreme series is optically excellent, robust, nitrogen filled and waterproof, at a very modest price.
They are porro design glasses, thus somewhat bulkier than the more popular but also more costly roof prism designs.
If set on a roof prism glass, the Nikon Monarch series is just about to be modernized, so bargains should be becoming available on the older versions, which are really the bread and butter series for most birders.
The Sightron Blue Sky series has gotten a good deal of praise on Bird Forum and fits in your budget.

Curious what you ended up with given how late I am seeing this discussion. I was going to 2nd the vote for the Eagle Optics Denali 8x42. Wife and I both have them and are very happy for the price and quality.
