Here is a review. Title : Son of an Alpha https://www.binomania.it/vixen-artes-j/

Made in Japan very similar to Opticrons top model. https://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=376173

Thank you for pointing out those reviews. I am still in the process of settling on an ideal (for my needs) 8x42 binocular. I am very curious to see, once I get it, how the Artes J would compare to recently tested binoculars. I tried and returned Bushnell Legend M, Engage, Hawke Endurance ED, Celestron Granite and Vanguard EDII. My biggest challenge was ER. I needed longer ER to see comfortably (I do not wear glasses) as I was having blackouts. The Legend M was the best so far for me, just too large...

I recently posted some comments here on this binocular last month, l too purchased the Vixen Artes J 8x42 from B H . I was watching the price on this particular model for awhile when the price was over $400 with some places near $700. When they were put on sale I jumped at that price. In my post last month I said I thought they were equal to Opticrons top end 8x42 DBA VHD optically as well as physically when I compared the two to my eyes. I consider these a steal at $319 when the Opticrons sell for considerably much more. No disrespect for the Opticrons they are a top level binocular, I almost bought a pair when I could have purchased them for around $500 discounted. More birders should take a look at the Japan sourced Vixen Artes J 8x42, I think many would me pleasantly surprised given their price.

How do the Vixens compare with your Leupold 8x32 HD GRs?

Gander Outdoors has the Bushnell Engage on clearance. The 8x42 are $199 with a coupon clearance10 for extra savings. I bought it and liked it a lot! Unfortunately for me, I had to return it as the eye relief was only 15mm and had blackouts.

The Leupold to my eyes is the sharpest 8x binocular I ever handled. They fit my eyes perfectly. The Vixens are a really nice binocular, super buy at $319 but not a Leupold Golden Ring 8x32 HD.

Hunting forum ad. I’ve bought and sold lots of binos here. Often some very good deals as these look to be. No affiliation. Just passing it on.

There is a demo sale at red hawk rifles https://redhawkrifles.com/optics/demo-optics/zeiss/
They mostly have rifle scopes, but there are Zeiss Conquest binoculars available at a good discount.

If you go to the auction site and search for "PENTAX ZD 10x50 ED Binoculars 62703" you'll find a new pair from Canada for US$600. That's like the non-ED price. I've heard they are a good binocular, though with a narrow FoV.

That is a very narrow FOV for a 10X50.

Adorama has 3 Canon 12x32 IS on ebay for $599 with free shipping. They are brand new with 30 day return privilege. The 10x32 didn't do well in Henry Link's test, but I've got the 12x32 and 14x42 and absolutely love them. They are becoming my favorite bins. I'm not sensitive to CA at all, though and if you are you may not like them. If a stabilized 12x bin appeals to you, I'd encourage you to order a pair. If they don't agree with you, you can just return them. I think they were a bargain at $700 and at $600 they are a steal.

Vixen Artes J 8x42 for $244 on Amazon, sold by Amazon. There were two left, and by the time I decided to act - one. I bought it, but amazon said more are on the way. So keep your eyes open, this may be the lowest price yet on these.

Watch out - the Legend L 8x42 has only 15.2mm eye relief. Legend E, and M only have 17mm.

LLBean has a 25% off promo thru Friday. Code is BONUS25. If you also apply for their credit card online at the same time you’ll get an additional 20% off. A pair of HG 10x42s would cost $600 using both offers! And yes the code works for Nikons and I did the double myself awhile ago.
