New Nikon 180-400mm f4 with built in 1.4 teleconverter (1 Viewer)

Canon rip-off...o:)

Quite remarkable is that the lens has 27 elements + another 8 in the TC.
Thats a lot of glass!

Only 2 m close focus limit is pretty good but 3.5 kg won't make it easy to use without tripod.

I suspect that it will be a bit sharper than the 200-500/5.6, but probably not quite proportional to the extra doe.

The Leica/Pana 200mm/f2.8 + TC14x + G9 suddenly feel like a very cheap and light combo.

Wondered if it was worth posting it. Save £10,000 and get the 200-500mm f5.6 and only lose 60mm. It does look good but not for the masses.

Mostly for pro sports-shooters I guess.
But might be quite useful shooting wildlife from hides where a fixed camera/lens position is mandatory. More flexible framing is underestimated.
But if you have a D850, use a 300mm/2.8 and crop will take care of the rest..
