Some subspecies of Thick-billed has white in tail, Velvet-fronted does not.

Niels

When I first saw this I thought it must be velvet-fronted as the cap only extends a little past the eye. In thick-billed it should be more or less the whole of the top of the head. But on looking more closely, I don't think the dark blue just above the bill is extensive enough for velvet-fronted. I also think we can see the yellow extend up to the throat in the 3rd pic (although difficult to make out through the leaf). In summary, then, a thick-billed with an unusually incomplete cap. [I'm not sure the white we can see is actually the tail. In any case, that white is usually on the tail underside and what we see here is definitely the upperside]
