Will the first programme be repeated on bbc4.Thanks
I enjoyed it and found it very interesting. I noticed one minor oddity though. In the section about the Victorians keeping caged wild birds, they played a scene from the BBC's recent production of Bleak House. Pauline Collins, as Miss Flite, was releasing all the caged birds, including two Siskins, one of which carried a very bright orange ring on its leg! I missed that the first time round.

You could be right. My ID skills are not exactly cutting edge. It's on iPlayer now and the Bleak House piece is about 11 mins in.Weren't they Canaries? I could be wrong as I was only half watching whilst reading another thread about another BBC4 programme!

I shall never look at Dunnocks in the same light again. Shy demure birds my a***.
Ron
If you're not careful around Dunnocks, Ron, It might be :eek!:

However, I don't agree with the programme makers who assert that the reason we feed the birds in the garden is to have some control of them.
