Bird ringing opportunity in Danube Delta in spring 2016

A ringing camp is organized for the 5th time (2nd during spring migration) by the GdJ ( in Sfântu Gheorghe, a small village located in the Romanian part of the Danube Delta. It will take place from March 21st to June 12th, 2016. The location is particularly well situated with seaside, Danube, wetlands, bushes and steppic meadow. The geographic situation and the diversity of habitats attract a variety of birds. Almost 300 species had been recorded in Sf. Gheorghe area, and 200 in Spring 2014 just in the camp area. During Spring season 2014, we ringed 5'575 birds from 84 species including some major rarities for Romania such the first ever recorded Taiga Flycatcher (Ficedula albicilla) and the two first ever Blyth's Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus dumetorum).
The number of places for volunteers is limited. For this edition, we search, by period: maximum 6 motivated persons including at least 1 ringer in charge and maximum 1-2 persons “without experience”. The work normally take place during all the day long between dawn and night. Accommodation is in a small rustic house (without electricity and tap water). We need helpers espacially between April 15th and May 31st. For registration download the file here: https://danubebirdringing.wordpress....stration-form/ (if you cannot write on the document, click “view” --> “modify the document”, filled it and return it to the address below). A small fee for food and housing is required.

In the hope to see you next spring in the wonderful Danube Delta!
