Hi all!

I have no clue how to separate Royal and Elegant Terns so I was hoping y'all could help me out :) All of these photos were taken in March 2020. Photo 1 was taken off the coast of Callao, the rest are from the Ballestas Islands off of Pisco.

Agree with the other IDs suggested. I don't think you'll be able to ID #1 or 7. While THE_FERN's reasoning on 7 is fair, it could just as well be Sandwich Tern with all the detail we can see :)

Yes I considered that. But looking closer suggests the tail is longer than it first appears, and bill better for elegant imho. Anyways, agree we can't be sure...
