The competition theme for July 2005 is 'Butterflies, Moths and other Insects'.

From the 103 entries submitted 30 have been selected to be added to the voting booth. The remaining entries were moved to their respective geographical forum. Many very good entries were unlucky not to make the cut.

Please select your favourite entry and cast your vote.

The booth will remain open for the next seven days after which the winner will be announced.

The entries can be viewed as -

1. Slideshow
2. Thumbnails in order of the voting booth
3. Thumbnails alaphatbetically

Best of luck everyone :t:

For this months rules/guidelines see here.

2005 competition themes see here.

That has got to have been the easiest competition so far to vote on. As soon as I saw the photo as I went through the slide show, I knew that would be the one. There was one other, that I thought was very dramatic but it just lost out because the background wasn't as clean as it could have been. Also one or two pretty pretty ones which in other competitions might have won my vote, but eventually I went for sheer drama and menace.

Great photos again. Well done everyone, for getting this far.

Hi Ian,
I notice there are two entries of "Painted Lady" one of them being my entry, to avoid confusion is it possible to re-name mine Painted Lady on Buddelia, hope this is ok
Thanks
PaulV

EASY????? Floral! What am I missing? They are all so good I've a short list now of 25.

The first one I thought Wow, then got lost as I waded through them. It'll take me ages to vote.

Sorted :t:

Looks like this is a very tight race! Choosing just one was sooooo hard!!

Well done to all that entered!

WOW! My admiration to the photographers one and all and to the mods who had the difficult task of choosing the 30 photos for us to vote on. Once again, I find that I'm a sucker for a story with the photo even though the photos that were most visually striking were tempting! Thanks to all who submitted. Barbara

I think the hardest job was for the jury to pick the 30 lucky ones....loads of quality pics this time!

can't believe I missed this months Competition - I have several macro insect shots I would have submitted :-( oh well..my own fault i spose. Great work guys.

Congratulations to anonymous_guy with his winning entry Hornet incoming
which attracted 25/118 votes cast.

Second placed was icansprint with Flight of the Dragonfly with 10 votes.

Third place went to Muskrat with Eastern Tiger Swallowtail with 8 votes.

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to enter and to view the entries and cast your vote.

The entries will be left in place for a few days after which they will be moved to their appropriate forums. Details of the August theme challenge will then follow.
