Season: December
Size: small (don't recall very well, but probably close to sparrow-sized)

Hey, no IMG tags on this forum???

Dark grey back, pale belly, buff spot on breast, white beard, orange beak, sparse buff feathers on head with orange skin showing. Orange eye, white nape, pinkish-grey legs. Possible white/grey wing stripe or two when wings folded.

Perhaps a Yellow Billed Cardinal with some kind of disease? They're pretty common in South Kona.

Ah, so it is a juvenile then? I've never seen one. I've seen lots of adults in Naalehu. Thanks for clarifying that.

So I'm guessing - at least the young ones usually have dull colors like that.
