Hi from Montenegro (1 Viewer)

I joined last week and wanted to say hello here.

Although British, I'm lucky enough to live for most of the year in a very special place for birds - Lake Skadar National Park in Montenegro. It's a vast and staggeringly beautiful wetland (more than 200 square kms) with more than 280 species, but I bet most people here haven't heard of it!

I don't have a background in birdwatching but these little creatures are the stars of the show here at the lake and have captured my attention. I'm looking forward to making quite a few posts about the birds I come across (I return to Montenegro in May) and will do my utmost to encourage people to visit, whether or not they're interested in coming on birding holiday with my own small holiday company based at the National Park.

I've visited Skadar Lake in the summer of 2010, just a few months after I started birdwatching, and I was fascinated by it! I'm so sorry it's not very known among birdwatchers 'cause it's really beautiful. And what I like the most is that birds don't seem that frightened by people, so you can really have a great look.
