On business in NI this week and surprised to see this so near Belfast city centre. Snapshot of one of a handful of Black Guillemots on the Lagan near Queen's Bridge.

They breed under the Queens bridge and in the drainage holes in front of the Waterfront hall, up past the Albert bridge as well, best count I have had is 33 birds around that area. Also 8 pairs of Common Tern breeding on the raft built for them between the Lagan weir and Queen Elizabeth bridge.

Who was responsible for the tern raft? The RSPB did not know except it wasn't them.

That would be me (well i built it as part of the Dsd bio-diversity work around the river) http://www.dsdni.gov.uk/index/urcdg...agan-weir/biodiversity-on-the-river-lagan.htm, we had 7 chicks until saturday week ago, then something happened during the night and they where all gone the following morning, until then they had been doing great, even the lsb gulls avoided the area.
