Any comments on the age of this bird would be appreciated. My first booted. Two weeks ago.

very unregular wing (secondaries of different ages) makes it an adult, second calendar year birds have only inner primaries new and all others juvenile
 
Dick Forsman’s book Flight Identification Of European Raptors in the Helm Identification Guides series published by Bloomsbury is pretty good for this sort of thing and the hardback is very reasonably priced considering the work he has put in over the years:t:

Thanks. This has reminded me that I have a copy of the old Poyser guide somewhere in my collection. I will follow up your advice.
