Both Little and Barn Owl around the dilapidated barn of Sagebury Farm at the Flashes this evening as per Andy P - appearing at 6:15 and 6:50pm respectively.

Also Little Egret at the Moors Pool as per Roy Porter

I think they must have come in last night as I was in east hide from 6.30 am today and I didn't see/hear them touchdown. Kingfisher entertained several of us in hide by hovering frequently and more unusual by landing on the small island, made for interesting photos with a shingle background.
 
Just over half way through October and the monthly list currently stands on 89 species. The average October total is 95.4 species with a maximum of 102 (last year) and a minimum of 92 in 2015.

Potential additions in the next 13 days include Shelduck, Pintail, Mandarin, Goldeneye, Merlin, Avocet, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Ruff, Med Gull, GBB Gull, Tawny Owl, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Crossbill, Yellowhammer and House Sparrow.

This week's Rock Pipits take the year list on to 145 species.
 
From the Flashes Andy P reports:

156 Lapwing, 8 Snipe; 2 Green Sandpiper, Curlew, 30 Teal, Meadow Pipits, Grey Wagtail, Peregrine, Raven.
Jack Snipe present yesterday.

Little Egret & 7 GC Grebe at the Sailing Pool.
 
Whooper Swans

The trio of Whooper Swan were still at the Moors Pool at 7am as per Richard Baker.

The three Whooper Swans and a couple of other shots, taken this morning.

3 Whooper Swans, 2 Goosander over north at 10.07am, Little Egret, 4 Pochard, 2 Gadwall, Curlew, 6 Meadow Pipit, 5 Skylark, 11 Redpoll (first of the autumn?), 3 Siskin, 11 Chaffinch, 6 Fieldfare, 66 Redwing
