Birds after a storm (1 Viewer)

feather

Soaring in the wind
I've never seen my regulars at the feeder as hyperactive as after a storm passes through. Many of them show up immediately after, inspecting everything that has been moved by strong winds. Most of them also just check if there's still food in the feeder instead of taking the time to feed. I've never noticed this kind of curious behavior before, is it common?

The reason they are checking the food is still there is probably because they are used to feeding off trees and their food would fall off trees in high winds. Anyhow, I'll check next time there's a storm. We have storms aplenty :storm: here in London, even in July. Apparently we're due one Thursday night, I'll check for you.
