Hi! Most of my birdwatching is done through the patio door and in the vegetable garden! I love birds and we have plenty of them. At the moment, our jackdaws are keeping us amused. The swallow nestlings are doing well and the great tits are showing their second brood the ropes. I spotted the young coal tits today for the first time and I'm hoping the young blue tits haven't spotted the peas. The blackbirds are enjoying the raspberries and loganberries we haven't got round to netting yet and the pigeons are loving the blackcurrants. Two linnets landed outside the kitchen door this morning to take dandelion seeds and a little warbler landed on the railing beside the chaffinch who was waiting for his peanut. (He and the tits eat out of the hand!)
So, you can see I don't have to go too far to enjoy the birds. Thankfully we've escaped so far this year without any orphans to rescue. I've had baby pigeons and jackdaws at various stages over the years. By far the most interesting orphan was a house sparrow, handreared from a few days old, who became one of the family.
Looking forward to learning from all you knowledgeable people!
