Can anyone shed some light on how I can tell the difference between M & F Painted or is the colourisation the same. My books don,t say anything on the subject. I know in a majority of B/fly,s they similar.:-C
 
Very similiar in colouration and as far as i am aware the only real differences in the sexes is that the males abdomen is smaller that that of the female and that the females wingspan is very slightly larger but this is very difficult to establish in the field.Hope that helps.
