Best way to store spotting scope long-term? (1 Viewer)

I own a Kowa spotting scope that I don't anticipate using for several years and want to be sure it will not suffer from long-term storage. Any suggestions for keeping it safe in storage? I have never stored optics long-term and don't know if there are any particular dangers involved, perhaps from moisture or something else. I have the eyepiece connected, the lens cap screwed on, and it's zipped up in a canvas stay-on case. Are there any other precautionary steps I should take?

Hi Chris, I am sure Delia would take very good care of your Kowa spotter. If you don't take her up on her offer you could always buy some desiccant packs to put in with your scope. Might want to put the scope inside some kind of WP plastic bag with the desiccant packs inside this and then inside your case. I think I would want to check it once in a while.
