EM-1+ 25mm f1.8 + Swa 80HD, A very good combination of free from any dark corner. very fast automatic focus as well.

The M,Zuiko Premium 25mm f1.8 is an outstanding lens for both general purpose as well as for digiscoping.

Oly 25 mm f.8 on Swaro with DCA

Thank you very much for sharing this information cwchan.
Very nice captures indeed.
I was desparetly hoping that someone would test this combo of the internally focussing Oly 25 f1.8 on Swaro eypieces with DCA. In principal it would alow for a very usefull range of focal lengths when combined with the 25 - 50 Swaro eyepiece. Which eyepiece did you use?

Best regards,
Sjerp

Lovely. Does the lens just slip into the DCA without being secured or is it screwed onto some thread?

The thread of the lens is 46mm. I need a step-up ring from 46mm to 52mm, as my DCA is 52mm thread. It is a very simple connection.

cheers.

My eyepiece is a fixed 30X.

Another new camera. Is this one better than the Leica?
I did a test some years ago of the Olympus 25/2.8 v Panasonic 20/2.8. I liked the Olympus but I had to use the adapter to use it on my Panasonics.
Quality-wise there wasn't much in it though.
Is this new lens better?
Neil.
ps I might see you at Mai Po soon.

For digiscoping usage, this one is better than Leica X-vario.

I think I also have carried out a comparison test of the the following three lenses, Olympus 25mmf2.8, Panasonics 20mm f1.8 and the Panasonics kit zoom 14-45mm. The two prime lenses Olympus 25/2.8 and Pan 20/1.8 did not win the kit zoom in sharpness.

This new 25mm f1.8 is much better than the two prime lenses mentioned above. The most obvious point it that this lens is internal focus, for mounting on DCA in my case. such a design is very useful. Sharpness and auto focus are also better.

Despite that I don't agree the use of TLS 800 is a kind of digiscoping photography. I tried to compare the 25mmf1.8 Vs the TLS800 today. The former is 1500mm and the latter is 1600mm for M43 format. For you to see the difference.

Comparision of three lenses, Olympus25mm f1.8, Sigma 30mm f2.8 DN and SW TLS800

Have these three lenses test in the field today. All were taken in raw, change it to jpg format without adjusting anything. They are 100% crop of the original.

The TLS 800 should give a 1600mm equivalent to 135mm format while the Sigma 30mm should give 1800mm. However, I find that the image obtained by the TLS800 is bigger than the 30mm.

The image obtained by the Sigma 30mm lens is bigger than the Olympus 25mm. However, the image by using Olympus is sharper than the Sigma (the new ART version).

Think I am going to like the olyumpus 25mm f1.8

Given the promising results cwchan obtained I was considering the new oly 25 mm for use on the swaro zoom eyepiece 25x-50x. @cwchan; thank you very much for sharing your first results.
Its AF is very fast; even faster than the sigma 30mm and much faster than the Lumix 20mm. Manual focus is very smooth. Mechanically its a very fine lens overall.
Initial results look quite promising. All images with zoom at 25x. Just a touch of vignetting, first image, which is easily cropped off, second image. Fine sharpness if circumstances allow, gees image.
'Think I am going to like this lens.

Regards,
Sjerp

Black-tailed godwit with olympus 25mm f1.8

Another capture of the Olympus 25mm f1.8.
Taken with Lumix G3 (not the H!).
It would be very interesting to see how this lens performs on a state of the art camera.
Best regards, Sjerp

Hello CWChan. I know I'm a bit late joining this thread but could I ask you for some information. I have the swaro 85ATX and a OMD 1 camera. Would it be any good with the DCBII bracket from swaro or would you stay with the set up you already have in the first image.
Thanks for your help.
Steve Norton......

Great shots everyone - would this Olympus EM-1 + 25mm f1.8 work with a Kowa 883 scope and the digidaptor?
Looks like another option has made it onto my shortlist.....

Digiscoping with the Olympus lens on the Kowa scope?

Since your post have you had any experience with the Olympus 25mm 1.8 for digiscoping with the tsn883 Kowa scope? I have this scope and also an Olympus OMD 10 iii, and hoping that the 25mm lens would complete the combination for digiscoping (with adapters).
