Sparrow ID?? (Madera Canyon, AZ) (1 Viewer)

It's one of the ironies of birding. You go to that special spot to see the hard to find birds, and one of the most common species you see is one of the most common and widespread birds all across the country.

And another for Chipping Sparrow. They've all moved on seeing that winter is over with down here.

It's true but they are not the most common bird in AZ, and they have regional dialect variation to keep you on your heels.

I was in southeastern Arizona a couple years ago in April, and Chipping Sparrow was absolutely one of the most common birds I saw. It's true, however, that would not be the case all year long or in all habitats there.

Agree with rkj, I was very recently in AZ and in a few places Chipping Sparrow was the most common bird and absolutely abundant. Other places visited far fewer seen.
