hummingbird spp Yucatan (1 Viewer)

hi there, it took this one back in may while visiting the yucatan peninsula,
i'm now more confused about which species it might be than i was when i took it.
any suggestions as to species

Pretty sure this isn't an emerald. The bill is wrong (shape, colour) and the colour pattern for the endemic is different. Instead, suggest this is green-breasted mango, one of the other 2 species commonly recorded on the island (there is a fourth one there too but infrequently)

So you are saying the orange color must be pollen? otherwise it doesn't make sense to me ...

that's actually the species i thought it was an emerald turned up on the same tree but was so close to my head it was inside the minimum focus distance, so i didn't actually manage to get a shot of one, despite getting absurdly good views
