Like the rest of us, pretty much confined to barracks. Took advantage of the great weather last week and all the spring flowers in our garden.

Despite all our problems, nature's cycle carries on and here is a welcome visitor to our garden. They provided plenty of fun trying to get reasonable shots.

Just thought I would share them...

Colin, you did well to catch that in flight. Lots of Dark-edged Beeflies, Bombylius major, here too. Watched one investigating an aggregate of Andrena flavipes nest holes.

Smart flies! Spreading northwards and now pretty regular here in South Yorkshire. Had my first few of the spring in the last week.

I was fortunate yesterday to spot one landing on a Buddleia leaf! This is only the second one I have managed to see in my garden! A delightful little fly!

I managed 4 images but one was too fuzzy!
